Rostusa (Rostusha, Rostushe) is a small village in Mavrovo National Park.

Rostusa is famous for the Duf waterfall. It is a short but pleasant walk from Rostusa to the Duf Waterfall. It’s not even 1.5 km in one direction with 120 m ascent. Since parking space is limited in Rostusa, we parked our car at the small parking just before the hospital. From there you walk uphill and take the trail after the graveyard to the waterfall. When we were here in summer 2016, this 28 m high waterfall was not very spectacular. It probably is a lot more violent after periods of rain and snow…

Click on the link to view the map and download the GPS track how to get to the Duf waterfall. There is another, less interesting, walk nearby that takes you above the Duf waterfall. There are several other hiking opportunities in the neighborhood.

The church dedicated to St Bogorodica lies on a hill above the village.

Closer to the entrance of the city, near the turnoff to the Duf waterfall, there is this pretty old mosque.

You can clearly see the St Jovan Bigorski Monastery complex in the distance when you are in Rostusa. Make sure you visit this monastery when you are in the neighborhood!
