The Stone Dolls, or Kameni Kukli, are stone pillars that have been formed by erosion.

They are near the village of Kuklica, south of the road from Kumanovo to Kriva Palanka, and close to the village Kratovo.

We went here by car together with the guide from the Municipal Center of Rock Art of Kratovo.

It is not really necessary to visit the Stone Dolls with a guide.

According to a legend, a man could not decide which one of the two women he was in love with he should marry. He planned to marry both woman on the same day but at different times. When the first wedding was in progress, the second woman went to see who was getting married on the same day as she. When she saw her future husband marrying another woman, she cursed them and the wedding guests into stone.

If you are interested, there is a similar natural phenomenon in the east of Macedonia near Pehchevo, named the Kukulje Stone Dolls.
