Zavoj is a small village in the mountains along the road from Ohrid to Bitola. I was dropped of here because it was the start point for my 24 km hike from Zavoj back to Ohrid.
The Church of St Bogorodica was closed when I visited. Not surprising because it was 07:00 h in the morning. There is another church dedicated to St Bogorodica, about 3 km from the village, in the mountains. The hike above passes this church. It seemed to me that this newly build church is located near the ruins of an older church.
This small church/chapel dedicated to St Bogorodica can be found in the hills about 3 km from the village Zavoj. It seems to be that was build close to the ruins of another church, because at these ruins there were some icons and the possibility to burn candles and leave some money. The church was closed when I got there. There is also a picnic place with a roof at this location and a water fountain.
This WWII monument can be found in the center of Zavoj, dedicated to the people fallen in 1944.
