Rotino

St Nikola

During a daytrip from Bitola in 2024 we visited several impressive churches in the village Capari. The caretaker who opened up the churches in Capari for us phoned ahead to his colleague in Rotino, who opened the Church of St Nikola for us. The church is from 1870. It suffered damage during WWI and was repaired after the war. Every year on December 19th the church celebrates its patron saint. I did not find the church’s interior very interesting. St Ilija Monastery

Next we tried to get the key for the Monastery of St Ilija from one of the last houses before the monastery, but there was nobody home. I believe the Monastery of St Ilija was built relatively recently, and we did not visit inside because it was locked. Location: N41° 03′ 14.6″ E21° 12′ 33.9″.

I think we could have skipped the churches in Rotino after visiting the much more interesting St Petka Monastery and St George in Capari.
